Gullbringa : Travel Kit #2 was recorded at my family's summer house in the north of Iceland. The house is over 100 years old and is called Gullbringa. The session takes place in front of this beautiful old window up in the sleeping loft. Through the half-open window you can hear the subtle sound of the peaceful surroundings outside. I gathered some rocks from the hill above the house, and use it as percussion in the intro. Recorded in July 2021, in the middle of the night, which is very bright at that time of year.

Travel Kit is an ongoing series of impromptu music making sessions at random locations. I use all sorts of battery powered instruments and recording devices and set it up in places that inspire me. Sometimes I have programmed a sequence beforehand and record the performance, but the songs are always open-ended for exploring and improvising. The soundscape and acoustics of the surroundings form the basis for each session.
